MBVM music classes for the 2011-2012 school year will begin with exploring the word CREATE and what that means to our school, our national history, and our world history.  What would our world be like if we didn't have music, visual arts, theater, design, architecture.  The eighth graders will create five boards that show how creative people can be.

Our theme for this year is "vocal music".  We'll explore and experience the different types of vocal music that surround us every day:  Broadway, Opera, Spirituals, Folk, Sacred, Jazz, maybe even rap.

Along with the vocal theme, the fourth and fifth graders will continue learning about the recorder and working on earning their Recorder Karate belts.

First through third graders will learn to use their voices and their ears by singing songs that have harmony in the form of canons, rounds and partner songs.

Kindergarten will learn about the instruments of the orchestra and the different sounds they use.  They'll also use their voices to explore how versitile their own "instrument" can be.

Hopefully, we're learning skills that will be highlighted in this year's Christmas concert.

Our Christmas concert is an all school event this year.  I am in the process of working out a performance date with ONU.  As soon as that is on the calendar, I'll put the information on this site.

We're looking forward to a productive, exciting school year.
